HISTORY
Villa Maria has been carefully built, and we have paid special attention to the environmentally sustainable component. So we are the first house on Iž that draws all its energy through solar panels on the roof of the house.
Thinking about preserving the ecosystem and rationalizing the water (Iz has no water supply - water comes from the mainland by boat), we built our own water pumping station, which is the bottled water we use to flush the toilets. For cooking and showering, we use rainwater from our own tank, with a capacity of 10,000 liters.

FAMILY STRGAČIĆ
The Strgačić family is your host. Anthony Tony Strgacic has lived in America, New York and Los Angeles for 41 years, and has traveled the world multiple times. He lived in Hawaii, in the South Pacific, he discovered many beautiful places in the world - but his heart was always most drawn to Veli Iž, where his ancestors lived more than 600 years ago. He wanted to share the beauties of Iža with others, and so in 2006 the apartments ‘Villa Maria’ were built, which will provide each guest with an unforgettable vacation and enjoy the pure scents, colors and flavors of the heart of northern Dalmatia.
Host Tony and wife Tanja returned from America in 2014, and in 2016 their son Val was born. Now they live in Veli Iž in the summer and in Zagreb in the winter.

Villa Maria is just a short walk from the permanent marina. Located on a slightly elevated place, the view from it encompasses the entire Veli Iž and the port.
